Hi, I’m Conner.

I’m a writer, essayist, and podcast host exploring the big, often uncomfortable questions about identity, relationships, masculinity, parenting, and the tension between who we are and who we’re expected to be.

I started my Substack, Prose & Con, as a way to give structure to my writing and make space for honest self-reflection. Since then, it’s become something deeper—a place to explore how we change, how we show up for ourselves, and how we make peace with our humanity.

I also host The HooperCast Movie Hour podcast, where my cohost and I talk about storytelling for the broad audience, with weekly examples from film and television. It's tough to find truly great storytelling in a corporate studio world, but we're still trying.

My work is rooted in the belief that vulnerability is power, and that real connection starts when we stop pretending. Whether I'm writing about fatherhood, dating after divorce, creative burnout, or the general absurdity of trying to grow up, I try to tell the truth—even when it’s uncomfortable.
